Caring For Your Reusable Cleansing Pads

Earlier this year we trialled the removal of our disposable cotton pads in over 100 stores across 12 markets and received a positive outcome. Our customers had a great reaction and were willing to make a switch to a reusable alternative. As a result, we will be phasing out the sale of our cotton rounds across all stores in exchange for our new reusable cleansing pads.

Now, we know how convenient disposable cotton pads can be in your skincare routine. Take one out the packet, remove your makeup, toss in the bin and done. However, as part of our Primark Cares initiative, we are continuously aiming to encourage swaps and changes to your daily cleansing routine that are better for our planet. An increasingly popular (and cost efficient!) skincare tool in the beauty industry, let us introduce to you, our reusable cleansing pads.

What Are Reusable Cleansing Pads?

Reusable cleansing pads are a super-soft skincare tool that offers a great alternative to single-use pads. Instead of tossing pads into the bin when you’re done, our reusable cleansing pads are designed to be re-used again and again by washing them after each use. Not only are they more gentle on your skin but are also available in a range of different sizes, textures and quantities. A must-have for your bathroom cabinet refresh!

How Do I Use Reusable Cleansing Pads?

The best part about our reusable cleansing pads? They can be used the same way as the disposable cotton pads! Simply store them in your beauty organiser or makeup bag and use them as part of your daily skincare routine. To remove your makeup, take your go-to makeup remover or cleanser and soak it onto your damp cleansing pad. Then, simply wipe it around your face – paying close attention under your eyes, corners of your nose and other areas where dirt, sweat and sebum can clog up your pores. Once you have rinsed your face with lukewarm water, we suggest double cleansing your face by repeating the step above again or using a gentle facial cleanser to ensure you are left with fully clean and refreshed skin.

For an easy, time efficient, deep cleaning routine, our Glow Skin Sets feature 3 different pads completed with different textures. Once your makeup is completely removed, wipe your face with our exfoliating pad. This features a towelling texture which helps remove the build-up of dead skin in your pores and leaves your skin with a smooth base ready for your makeup the next day. Remove, cleanse, exfoliate, repeat!

How Do I Wash My Reusable Cleansing Pads?  

We recommend washing your reusable cleansing pads before their first use and after every use to prevent any dirt transferring onto your skin. Luckily, our soft cleansing pads are easy to wash and are available to buy in bulks so you always have a backup on hand!

Wash by Hand: Start by filling up your sink with some warm water and add some soap or mild detergent. Let the pads soak before gently massaging off the dirt and excess makeup. Once the product has rubbed off, rinse well until the water runs clear and leave to air dry on a flat surface by a window or drying rack.

Wash by Washing Machine: For an easier washing experience, you can wash our reusable cleansing pads by inserting them into our wash bags and placing them in your washing machine. Not only will using our wash bags help prevent any from going missing in your laundry load but it will protect your pads from any damage zippers, buttons and harsh fabrics that may cause whilst in the machine. Once washed, leave to air dry.
