7 Steps For Salon-Worthy Nails
When it comes to the perfect nails, there’s so much more to it than a haphazard slathering of colour. This article goes out to any dedicated nail-phile (geddit?) in need of a point in the right direction. To help us out, we’ve enlisted our never failing to nail-it editor, Jayne Bibby, to give us her low-down on nail essentials, dos, don’ts, and musts. Practically famous for her impeccable nails, Jayne has some invaluable tips for your fingertips.
Step one: “I always ensure I’ve removed any residual nail polish. Your nails have got to be squeaky clean before you can even think about applying a fresh coat.”
Step two: “It’s well worth making the time to file and shape your nails before adding any colour. Painting without shaping is a nail no-go.”
Step three: “Once I’m happy with the shape, I’ll usually buff my nails to remove any rough layers, which makes the application process smoother. Trust me, it really works.”
Step four: “When I’ve shaped, filed, and buffed, I’ll apply a clear base layer, to protect my nail from staining, and to ensure long-lasting colour.”
Step five: “When the base coat is dry, I’ll apply two layers of colour. Always, always, always (!!) make sure the first layer of colour is completely dry before adding a second.”
Step six: “Finally, when both coats of colour are dry, I’ll finish with a top coat, to seal and protect the colour, and add that salon shine. At the moment I am loving the natural light curing nail polish duo, it’s £4 and lasts for days!”
Step 7: “Chill, relax, and wait for your new nails to dry!”
And there you have it: seven super simple steps to keep your nails salon-worthy, without the ridic price tag! Want more? Don’t forget to check out our beauty how tos, below.
