Seventies: London Fashion Week
It's time to dig out those flares and embrace the fringing: the seventies are officially back on the radar. If your mum's vintage pieces are off-limits, we've got a selection of our very own pieces just for you. Dust off your records, cut in that heavy fringe and let's get to work.
Seventies style is all about channelling your inner Stevie Nicks. Think of chiffon, shearling and velvet as your key fabrications, with accents of suede, corduroy and berry-infused florals for mini-skirts, outerwear and pussy bow blouses. Meanwhile, tan coloured leather and flared denim offer something for the sartorially minded. Steer clear of modern touches such as PVC, holographic patterns and neon colours - we're going back to basics here.
For finishing touches, simply slip on a studded mule, cover up with a thick sheepskin jacket - cropped or long - and always remember to finish off with a fringed shopper bag to maintain authenticity. With a heavy focus on floaty fabrications, those looking for a more tailored look may revel in the resurgence of full fitted suits. While those looking to keep it fresh can team tailored trousers with a graphic t-shirt and chunky Chelsea boots.
With regards to the beauty look, focus on beautifully-coiffed flowing locks and heavy blunt fringes - auburn and chestnut hues are the colours of choice. Deep berry lips and kohl-lined eyes will round off the look to perfection. Ensure you prime your tresses with a heat-protectant before styling in those soft waves, we're not taking the 'old' in old-school too literally...
