LFW Trend Report: The Clash

New York’s fashion press might follow the rule of ‘all black everything’ but in London we like to stand out. What better way to cause a stir in Soho’s streets during fashion week than to clash colours and prints together to create a lil’ bit of drama.

This trend is certainly not for the faint-hearted fashionista, as not only colours, but prints and fabrications are all used to create noise and disruption. Checks, stripes, animal markings, abstract motifs and art attack painterly prints are seen worn together in head-to-toe looks. This street style trend comes with a more is more attitude and, dare I say, warning.

Searing reds, another key LFW trend, and canary yellow emerge as a favoured colour combination, while 50 shades of blue add turquoise, navy, royal blue, indigo and sky into the mix.

This trend shows that fashion should be fun and there really are no rules. Clashing even follows through to make-up and hair shades too, with the red lip and bold colour choices all playing a part in this street style.

To recreate this look, don’t be shy. Start by laying up your favourite colours whether it’s a basic t-shirt, crew neck knit or pinstriped shirt. Add on top a new texture and fabric, be it a denim trucker, a leather biker or a fringed suede jacket and team with a printed pair of jeans, high waisted skirt or full circle skirt.
