Trend on Trial: South West
Our buying teams are passionate about their product. They love to see a collection come to fruition, and to witness their hard work coming to life when you guys post on Primania. To demonstrate our love for all things Primark, we’ve got a new series coming atcha – say hello to Trend on Trial.
Each month, we’ll be celebrating our in-house talent and our top trends, by showing you how we’re wearing them. Our aim is to inspire, prove we love a cheeky bit of Primark just as much as the next person, and give you the insider low-down on what to expect in stores.
Our first trend on trial is South West. Inspired by classic Western dress, this traditional look gets a contemporary make-over with a monochromatic palette. Perfect for the girl who wants to get that Coachella look – think Western belts, black skinnies, loose blouses, and wide-brimmed fedoras.
This trend is a festival-lover’s dream. Composed of wardrobe staples – jeans, blouses, and waistcoats – it’s easy to pull together and offers an abundance of creative styling options. Music fest' must-haves like fringed bum-bags, lightweight scarves, and statement hats will get you well on the road to festival-chic.
Key details and trims include tassels, fringing, stud embellishment, and metal hardware accents, which all work to elevate a simple outfit.
Modelling the look is our buyer, Emma, who you may recognise from our recent Primark HQ Diaries. She’s working it like a pro, keeping colour paired back, and accessories amped up.
When the season peaks, swap your jeans for denim cut-offs, and blouses for off-the-shoulder numbers, to maintain your cool and stay on trend-on. When it comes to shoes, trade in ankle boots for lace-up espadrilles, or artisanal embellished sandals.
And finally, if you’re craving a hint of colour, Emma suggests introducing a printed bandana in a vibrant red. Tie around handbag handles, wear as a headband, or tie around your neck, to nail that classic Western look.
If you love this look, you’ll adore this trend’s natural progression, come AW16. The evolution of South West is called Free Spirit, and signals a further move into Western inspirations with plenty of festival options. Stay tuned for more...
