A Love Letter to Amsterdam
Hi there! I’m Noor, also known as Queen of Jet Lags. You've probably already guessed I travel quite a lot, which makes my love for my hometown Amsterdam even bigger. Amsterdam is one of my favorite places to be and I’m so excited to share all the reasons why!
I live in the East side of Amsterdam, quite near to Amsterdam’s zoo. I love the restaurant, ‘De Plantage’ next to the zoo, and ‘Artis’ is my go-to place for coffee, lunch, business and weekend chilling! The food is delicious, the restaurant has Parisian vibes, and in the garden, you can hang with flamingos underneath fairy lights!
Everybody that has even been to Amsterdam knows of ‘Rokin’, the big street in the city center, in front of the central station. Here you can shop, taste the best fries with Dutch mayonnaise, and hop on an tour boat which will guide you through the canals. Did you know there are some hidden places you can only see by boat? Of course, I know a tour like this sounds a little cheesy and a typical 'touristy' thing to do, but believe me, it’s a fun way to explore the city from a different point of view!
Another great tourist location is Dam Square. As you walk from the central station, towards the city centre (via ‘Rokin’), you end up at ‘the Dam’ as we Dutchies call it! This square is full of street artists, food stands and surrounded by the best shops. Fun fact: I love to shoot pictures at the square because the lighting in pictures looks so good!
Because I spend so much time in hotels, I love being in my own home. There’s only one place in Amsterdam I would choose over my own place: The Amstel Hotel. Really, Google it. It’s located next to the prettiest Parisian bridge and has the craziest rooms!
Last but not least, I want to talk about the most popular attraction in Amsterdam. You can probably guess what I’m talking about... the famous canals. I love exploring them all, watching sunsets and taking pictures! As they are all so different, it's like a never ending hobby! And there are always new shops, places to get lunch and coffee spots to be found when exploring! The easiest and most fun way to explore all the small and big canals of Amsterdam, is how a true Amsterdammer would do: on a bike. Yes, it’s true, we ride our bikes everywhere. And you can aswell! There are so many bike rent shops in the city, so you can find one on the corner of every street!
I hope you love Amsterdam as much as I do!
