Our My City, My Story campaign is taking a look into the home cities of some of our fave bloggers. From the deets on how a city can steal your heart, to the secret spots you have to visit, we’re taking a whistle stop tour around the world. This week we’re saying bonjour to Megan, as she answers all our most important questions. Paris is her city, and here is her story…
Describe your city in three words.
Love, Celebration, Art
What is the best thing about your city?
I think it's the fact that it's a city with 100 different faces: you just need to explore on foot to see how each neighbourhood is a different city, in terms of the atmosphere, the people, the architecture... It's a really diverse city!
What's the one thing you always tell people about where you're from?
That it's just how they imagine it... but better!
How would you describe the fashion style of your city?
Paris is one of the capitals of the fashion world. Paris also invented Haute Couture, and produced most of the greatest designers of the twentieth century! So it's a city with a really impressive artistic heritage, and that can be seen amongst Paris' street style scene.
What's your favourite secret place?
There are a few, but my favourites are all rooftop venues. There are so many outdoor cafes in Paris that you sometimes forget to look up. But the rooftop terraces boast some really breathtaking views! Le Perchoir, the Piscine Molitor and Barbès are just a few of the many places worth visiting!
Describe the perfect day in your city.
A typical French breakfast / brunch at Mama Shelter, then rollerblading along the banks of the Seine on a Sunday, when there are no cars. The perfect place to see Paris and strike some poses for the camera, is the river. After all that effort, I would have a delicious waffle at Berthillon on the Île Saint-Louis near the Sacré Coeur. Go home for a nice shower, then dinner at Alcazar, near Saint Germain des Prés. And if I have any energy left, I'd choose one of the thousands of bars and clubs in Paris to have a drink in!
Tell us something about your city that not many people know.
There are lots of terraces in Paris (cafes, restaurants, bars)... If you visit one a day, you would need 29.8 years to try them all (not including any that might open during that time!). Yes, there are 9, 057 terrace venues (at the moment).
Which city are you yet to visit, but would love to see?
I'd love to go to Los Angeles. And go rollerblading on Venice Beach!
What are your tips for a successful shopping trip at your local Primark?
Take someone with you, because there's so much choice and such great prices that you'll find it difficult to carry everything home with you on your own!
Why not satisfy that travel temptation and take a look at what else is going down in the world of My City Story? Take inspo from Megan's sophisticated city style over on Primania (FYI: There's a new #OOTD coming your way EVERYDAY!), then sit back and relax as she does all the walking in her Paris vlog! Finally, check out Megan's love letter to Paris also hitting the site this week - swoon!
