The Re:Mark: Summer Dreaming
This week was kicked off by a catwalk presentation from the lovely people at WGSN talking all things AW 17/18. Talking about a moody winter palette and glitzy party wear sounded all too familiar to me, as that’s still where my heads at – I’m wearing head to toe black as I type(!). It made me realise that it’s time to focus on the here and now. The mornings are getting warmer and the nights are getting lighter (at last!) making my homeward bound commute a lot more enjoyable. All hail a new season is upon us – it’s about time I get myself in the right headspace for it.
I feel like I haven’t written about my flat in a while – or shall I say indulged in writing about my flat. The home I still coin as ‘new’ has been home for nearly eight months now – how time flies when you spend every spare penny on furniture and renovations (*lists more clothes on Ebay immediately). Now that the spring sunshine has started to shine, all thoughts go to summer time. I’m already eager for my first east London summer and dreaming of breakfast on my terrace and mid-afternoon park picnics.
Next on the renovation list is the make shift roof terrace. I’m keen to make it ‘official’ and aesthetically pleasing so I can start hosting out there – and I’ve had some major inspo from our Out of Africa feature where it’s all lush green plants and woven baskets! A roof terrace also means a short cut to the sun the minute it comes out, which in turn means new summer clothes are needed.
I’m already pre-planning my summer look and it’s going to be filled with cold shoulder tops in baby blue gingham, raw hemmed boyfriend jeans and lightweight DB blazers.
And with our new collection looking this gorgeous and bardot tops starting at €13 it doesn’t need to be naughty little treat either. Praise be to Primark! However, if its more denim you’re after, allow Jodie Jones to talk you through our latest and greatest.
Another new obsession of mine is fluted sleeves – adding a certain je ne sais quoi to any outfit. Although a potential catastrophe at any dinner party – those sleeves love to get in on the food action – but that won’t stop me rocking one to my next evening occasion, and it should stop you either. I’ll be wearing mine tucked into a high-waisted pencil skirt, worn loose over boyfriend jeans, and casually thrown on with denim cut offs once the mercury hits 30 degrees!
I’m looking forward to weekend brunching, working from home, and all things dining al fresco on my little roof terrace once the sun hits the sky that little bit higher.
