The Re:Mark: Park Life
Despite having lived in my new flat for nearly 10 months, it's taken me until now to discover the delight of living near a lush London park. And by near, I mean across the road. Now I have no excuses for that weekend run, game of tennis and alfresco dining with friends. What’s taken me so long to get into the park life groove?
Being completely in love with my new abode has meant that I’m more than happy to spend all my spare time there. Redecorating, rearranging furniture, planning renovations, cooking, entertaining, you name it, I’ve been doing it. In fact, up until last weekend I'd only strolled around the park twice with my baby nephew in tow hoping he'd fall asleep in his pram. But this weekend while the sun was out in full force, I saw the park in a whole new light, literally.
My Friday evening was spent with friends picnicking alfresco in the park, surrounded by many other locals doing the same, all of whom brought their dogs, of course! Perhaps one of my favourite things about park life #majordoglover.
After after a couple of hours sun gazing and watching the world go by, I couldn't believe I'd waited this long to venture out into the great outdoors. Being a fashion editor, I love to style the whole scene too. Hot pink cushions, leopard print throws and crockery to match – it’s time to take your interior faves outdoors, and right now I’m seriously into colour.
I made a promise to myself there and then that I was going to make the most of living one street away from the park. I was tempted not just by the warmer weather, but by the tennis courts, the ready-made running track and checking our everyone’s summer garms. Ripped denim shorts and sassy slogan tees for casual days and floral dresses for Sunday park best. Check! However, the kids might have been the best dressed last week with Louise, kidswear assistant editor, coining the look Kidchella!
I've recently decided to get back into running and after seeing so many runners doing their laps on Friday night, I had no more excuses and plenty of inspiration. The next morning, I got up, put my running gear on and I jogged into the park to join my fellow fitness friends. There's nothing better for the soul than early morning running, taking in the cool air, upping your heart rate and starting your day on an endorphin induced high!
So until the roof terrace is done, it's going to be all about the park for me. Now all I need to do is dig out my tennis whites to serve up the perfect look for the courts. Who's game?
