The Re:Mark: Summer Is Here!☀️
As the sun FINALLY starts to make an appearance in London this week, that desired summer lifestyle can be seen in full force. The pavements are packed with alfresco diners, Saturdays are spent picnicking in the park, and the long, light evenings allow for late night socialising every day of the week. Oh summer how I’ve missed you, welcome back!
There’s nothing I love more than making the most of a sun drenched summer’s day. Starting early with an outdoor brunch to catch up with friends and then hitting the local food or flower market to stock up for the week ahead. But the big question is; what do you wear when an early morning brekkie turns into a sunbathing sesh, with shopping in between?
With the swimsuit having a major comeback, I think it’s about time we all embrace it and add it into our everyday looks, think of it as the new bodysuit – you know how much we all fell in love with that. And this is no different, it simply has a high summer point of difference, and potentially a high shine finish. Imagine a low back swimsuit with high waisted denim cut offs. Perfection. Or a bardot cossie with a printed mini skirt. If you have to see it to believe it, then head right this way as Jodie talks you through slaying your swimwear style.
As always with the summer season, everyone wants to look their best for when they’re flashing the flesh in a tea dress, denim shorts et al. For me, I work out all year round but definitely amp it up in summer; spinning, yoga, pilates you name it, I’m in the class. Apart from the much loved endorphins, it’s the best way to kick start your day. Just because the hype’s died down, don’t go thinking athleisure is over, it’s very much alive and kicking.
Whether you wear it to the gym or choose it as your usual weekend attire, it's still very much on trend. Allow our guest editor Rebecca Gillam to give you to the low down on what’s been going on behind the scenes with the Primark workout crew and how you can wear yours this season.
And with the festival season about to start, it’s all about those finishing touches. I love it in summer when suddenly hair accessories come out to play. Whether it’s a flower crown, a decorated top knot, or your neckerchief suddenly becomes your hairband of choice, keeping your hair out of your eyes yet finishing off your look is the kind of accessorising I can get behind. Freya has captured it ALL especially for you with her festival looks that you ought to get behind this year.
And if your make-up bag is yet to embrace the draping trend, I am here to tell you it’s not as scary as it sounds. Plus, if you’re not a sun worshiper then this is the one for you. Think contouring but with blusher; I’ve tried it and LOVE it, and I’m pretty sure you will too. A healthy glow and a cool pink lippie to match and your summer look is complete.
And with that, it’s about time I stop writing and start enjoying this summer sun. Happy sunbathing everyone!
