Primark AW17 Womenswear Interviews My Generation Campaign

Meet The Models: Sharifa

If healthy eating, unicorns, dancing, and MORE bank holidays sounds like your idea of #LifeGoals, you have GOT to meet Sharifa, another bossin' bae from our My Generation line-up. As a professional shape-thrower, this 23-year-old Londoner is an arbiter of athleisure, always rocking sleek sports-infused get-up. We caught up with the dancing dreamboat to chat about veganism, staying woke, and... the future of the planet! (Cue dramatic music).

Primark AW17 Womenswear Interviews My Generation Campaign

Sharifa, 23, dancer

How would you define yourself?

I'm a 23-year-old dancer from London, who loves movies and unicorns. I try to live by the motto of making the most of what you’ve got. You don't get to pick the cards you are given in life, but whatever you have: make it work!

Describe your generation in 3 words.

Super, awesome, majestic.

What motivates you?

I'm passionate about dance, because when I do it I express myself without words. I’ve made friends through the dance scene; it's shaped my future and I can't imagine what my life would be like if I didn't do it.

What would your dream party be like and who would be on the guest list?

It would be unicorn-themed and would take place in an adult ball pool. Kevin Hart, Kristen Wiig and Jesus would feature very high on the guest list.

What does being woke mean to you?

It means not being ignorant to things. I guess I stay woke by caring about issues that do or do not affect me directly.

What is the best advice you have been given?

To count your blessings. There are places in the world where girls like me wouldn't have the same opportunities, which makes me grateful for what I have and motivates me to keep pushing.

What's your favourite social media channel?

Instagram: I like the Best of Vegan account, because food is life and everything they post is sublime.

If you had your own hashtag what would it be?

#UnapologeticallyMe.

Complete the sentence: “What the world needs now is...”

Empathy.

How do you see the future for yourself and the planet?

I think the planet needs more Bank Holidays. Some suggestions from me: unicorn appreciation day,
 free vegan ice-cream day,
be nice to your friend with a 'fro day.
