Female farmers in India

Delivering education to cotton farmers

Our cotton programme in India

Our Ethical Trade team visited cotton farmers in Gujurat, India, with our partners (SEWA) Self-Employed Women’s Association and (BSR) Business For Social Responsibility. Gujurat is one of the key cotton growing regions in India. Together, we're running a ground-breaking programme to deliver health education to female cotton farmers. The farmers are also taking part in our programme with CottonConnect to grow more environmentally friendly cotton.

It's rewarding to see the impact that the programme, is having on the villages and the communities, and the enthusiasm of everyone involved. The programme is a three-year pilot, and one of the challenges we're looking at now is how we can take this programme and expand it so that it reaches more cotton farmers and more villages.
