Primark welcomed today’s announcement from Business in the Community that Katharine Kirk, Ethical Trade Director, has been granted a Game Changer Award in recognition of her work in ethical sourcing.
The award is bestowed by BITC in recognition of people and companies that have raised standards and made a lasting impact both on their businesses and on the work, knowledge and capacity of Business in the Community.
Katharine has 25 years of commercial experience. With a highly experienced team, she works with suppliers and stakeholders for sustainable change. Transparency and monitoring are key, using innovative training to reach even the smallest suppliers. Projects are targeted at specific issues, with scalability in mind. Most notable are those on health and financial inclusion, where the impact ripples out beyond the factory walls, into communities.
Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community, said: “We are delighted to be able to recognise some of the brightest stars in corporate responsibility through our Game Changers award. As a campaigning membership organisation we are dependent on individuals from business to help us drive the agenda. Without the energy and passion of Game Changers like Katharine Kirk I doubt very much if the UK responsible business movement would be quite so mature. They truly deserve this recognition which I hope will act as an inspiration to others.”
