NYC DIARIES #2: WHAT TO SEE
We admit it: we’re still suffering from major post-vacation blues. We're scrolling further back on our Insta feed than we’d like to admit, to get another taste of the Big Apple. Our time in New York shooting our awesome Fall/Winter campaign was the perfect trip for fashionistas and foodies (aka the Primark squad). So to try to shake off those FOMO feels, we’re dipping our toes back into the Hudson with the final installment of our NYC Diaries. We told you where to feast, right here. Up next? Sightseeing! Here’s a few of our fave places to check out between the three most important pit stops of the day (eating out, duh). So grab your map and get exploring!
Sightseeing means an early start (ahem – browse our concealer line here…). Though early wakeup calls bring shivers to the spine, there's tons to see – so quit moaning and embrace the bedhead: a day's exploring awaits! With a coffee in one hand and a to-go bagel in the other, get ready to fall in love with the city that never sleeps.
First up: head to the Brooklyn Bridge for sunrise (around 7 AM in winter). Suspended above the East River and connecting Manhattan to Brooklyn (both boroughs to explore), the bridge is a New York skyline icon. For the dreamiest sunrise setting and a killer OOTD pic, wrap up warm and walk on over!
Central Park is totally obvs – but a NYC no-brainer. There’s tons of hotspots in the famous park, and so much to see – it's 2.5 miles long! Head to the locations of your fave movie scenes, from Home Alone 2 to singing with Buddy the Elf. Feel like a run to burn off that 3-day doughnut binge? This is the place. Or just stroll the paths, lie back with a magazine, and absorb the buzz of free concerts and theater. Got the munchies? The Boat House is the perfect lakeside restaurant, serving up tasty food with fab views - you'll linger longer than you need to! Leave the hustle and bustle of city streets behind, and make for the trees...
Up next: catch a train going south and head for Grand Central Terminal. The marbled floors and celestial ceilings are a real feast for the eyes (not all NYC treats are edible...). Whether or not you're there to travel, it’s a must-see stop just for the building’s stunning architecture. Make sure to check out the Whispering Gallery, a secret surprise for traveling lovers (we’re romantics at heart!). Continue to the nearby Empire State Building and New York Public Library to check off a few more cultural essentials.
Where to next? The Statue of Liberty, MET Gala and Ground Zero Memorial deserve your time, so schedule this in for a humble reminder of New York’s history.
But how to have a night out in NYC? If you're a big fan of musicals, then a trip to Broadway is an obvs must. 13 million people head to New York’s theaters every year to escape to a world of jazz hands, harmonies and hot scripts. Once you’ve sat down after that standing ovation, make your way to Times Square for another dramatic encounter. This hyperactive Midtown hotspot will absolutely get your heart pumping. What’s a trip to NYC without seeing your selfie on the billboard?!
And with that, we’re ready for a long night’s sleep. With tired feet, a phone full of pics and our cultural taste buds satisfied, it’s a trip we won’t forget. Since it was touch narrowing down all the must-do's to fill you in on, we're guessing another visit is in order… Tickets in hand, Primark peeps – please pop us in your suitcase!
