LCM Trend Report- Longline
London Collection Men’s is the place to see and be seen, a key moment in a fashionista’s calendar. While fashion is shown on the catwalks and presentations, it’s style that’s seen on the streets and sidewalks. We worked with fashion photographer Holly McGlynn to capture the best looks around, round them up and compile them nice and neatly into trend reports just for you. For this report we look at the introduction of longerline silhouettes into casualwear.
Think extended and exaggerated shapes that play out in everyday items. Long line garments are nothing new, there have always been coats cut long on the body such as the driving coat, the trench and the mac. However we are now moving onto core items such as t-shirts, tank and sweaters. Less prominent, more stylish options are also on hand such as knitted sweaters, polo’s and shirts. If you’re unsure how to style this item up, a great way to start is by playing peek a boo with layers. One way to do this is by opting for shorter on top and longer underneath. This could also be reversed with the long top worn under a shirt artfully adding the touch of style.
Proportion plays a large part and balance is key, as it’s all about ensuring that the garment doesn’t swamp or consume you. A great way to counteract this is by creating a streamlined silhouette from skinny jeans or flesh flashing ankle cropped pants to ensure the correct looks are created.
