Primark AW17 My Generation

Meet the Models: Brian

Just-turned-18 model Brian may be one of the youngest in our My Generation crew – but he has his head screwed on just right. The recent birthday boy, who celebrated his 18th on the same day as the eclipse, uses his social media platforms to keep it real and spread the gospel on positive mental health. Motivated by his own ambition to do well, Brian's a pretty self-sufficient guy and full of gratitude. Check out our Q&A – and don't forget to click Play (below) for some seriously chiseled chin-wagging...

How would you define yourself?

I'm a very positive, ambitious person who wants to inspire young people. There’s a bunch of things I'd like to do! Right now, I’m just shooting for it all – and I think everyone should do the same.

Describe your generation in 3 words.

Cheeky! Vain. Antisocial.

What motivates you?

I’m passionate about photography: I see it as a work of art, and I treat my work like that. For me it's a very personal hobby, and it’s something that keeps me feeling creative. Being in the fashion industry, I see both perspectives – behind and in front of the camera – which inspires me.

What does being "woke" mean to you?

For me, being woke is being aware of what's going on with social issues and injustices, and fighting to improve them. There are people out there who really know what’s up. And I guess you can stay woke by being active with the news, and being aware of your surroundings. If you're not ignoring everyday life and not looking at your phone all day, then maybe that'll give you some idea!

Complete the sentence: “What the world needs now is...”

Love and support. Just respect one another.

If you had your own hashtag what would it be?

#StayTrueBeYou.

What's the best advice you can give someone to help them stay positive?

Remember: whatever you're going through, other people are going through something as well. Be positive and respectful; doing little things like holding the door for people gives you a sense of positivity.

How important is social media to you?

It’s kind of important, but my life doesn't revolve around it. For me it’s just good to have a platform that lets me talk to people. Other than that, I could live without it.

Who would play you in a film, and what would the plot line be?

I’d like Johnny Depp to play me, if I couldn’t play myself! The film would focus on my life and how I went from a guy who hated school and felt worthless, to being somewhat influential to young people in the UK.

What would your dream party be like? Who'd be on the guest list?

Jaden and Willow Smith, and A$AP Rocky. We'd just chill and talk about deep stuff.

If we gave you 100 bucks and a suitcase full of clothes, how would you use it?

I'd donate it all to someone who isn't used to having a bunch of clothes and money. I'd just like to see a smile on their face.
