Meet the Model: Mikill Pane
Mercury Records-signed rapper Mikill Pane is reppin' for all the slashies out there: always grindin', with various disciplines to his name. When he's not broadcasting his segment on the UK's FUBAR radio (with fellow model Reece Sanders and Rizzle Kicks' Harley Sylvester) you can catch him in the studio, layin' down bars or supporting talent as a manager. This guy's tireless work ethic, down-to-earth vibe and positive M.O. made him a natural fit for our My Generation campaign crew. Come meet...
How would you define yourself?
I’m a songwriter/broadcaster/artist manager from London; I'd describe myself as a "joy-seeker". All I ever want's to make myself and other people smile.
Describe your generation in 3 words.
THE BEST. EVER.
What motivates you?
I’m passionate about literature and lyricism. I’ve enjoyed creative writing for as long as I can remember: I decided I must be good at it when I won a poetry competition in primary school!
What does being "woke" mean to you?
It’s about having your eyes open and your wits about you, socially and politically. We live in bubbles all through our lives – we can get too comfortable. I’m learning how big the world is and how often we turn a blind eye to things...
Complete the sentence: “What the world needs now is...”
A period of serious reflection.
What's the best advice you can give someone to help them stay positive?
Do things for people whether they can return the favor or not. You feel good when you’ve changed someone’s mood, day, or life for the better. Always encourage them to pass on the good vibes, too – as soon as is humanly possible!
How important is social media to you?
It’s vital! Without it, I definitely wouldn’t be doing this interview right now...!
If you had your own hashtag what would it be?
#PainstakingProcess – because nothing's been easy for me. I’ve always had to apply myself and play the long game.
What would your dream party be like? Who would be on the guest list?
It would be a relaxed dinner party, with UK Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn, Jay-Z, Akala, comic Katherine Ryan, actor and author Stephen Fry, Solange Knowles (sitting nowhere near Jay-Z...), supermodel Naomi Campbell, Serena Williams, Common, Mike Skinner, JME... and UKIP's Nigel Farage and Katie Hopkins as the wait staff.
