Normcore: London Fashion Week
Normcore is perhaps the most ironic trend to have emerged in recent seasons. With its clean-cut aesthetic rooted in an appreciation of low-key basics, it's the anti-trend the fashion crowd love. Always one step ahead, we've got everything you need to recreate the look yourself, in stores now.
Normcore is all about sartorial nonchalance, off-duty style and keeping things simple. With its simplicity comes a neutral palette that favors black, white, grey and beige tones in solid colors - free of print, pattern and embellishment.
When it comes to silhouette, the Normcore look eschews classically feminine shapes, with a slim-cut, androgynous and longline silhouette reigning supreme. Typically, the look will include tailoring aspects, longer-lengths and casual layering.
The juxtaposition between stylish and super casual also typifies this trend. With fresh white sneakers or sporty footwear shapes worn alongside loose-cut stylish pants or calf-grazing maxi dresses.
When it comes to accessorizing, the normcore girl tends keep things simple. Classic envelope clutches and minimal portfolios have the edge over utilitarian backpacks or the fringed handbags we've seen emerging with the seventies trend.
