Day In the Life: Rachel et Nicole
As the fashion week circuit moves onto Paris, we take a look back at some of the best dressed in New York. We caught up with blogging sister act, Rachel et Nicole, as they gave us an insight into their fashion week life, from their favourite shows, outfit choices and the saviours that get them through the hectic show schedule.
The blogging duo, sisters and - on a good day - best friends, are fashion circuit experts. We followed them around for the day to find out what they really get up to during fashion week.
With shows and presentations starting as early as 9am, the days are long, so we were keen to ask Rachel and Nicole how they typically start each day: “Wake up on time (hopefully), get changed, slight make-up (so we look human), coffee for Rachel, while Nicole calls the UBER. #teamwork." That's coffee, make-up, and a cab all sorted... lets get down to the interesting bit – their outfits!!
With over a week of shows to attend, and more than 20 shows and presentations a day (and we haven't even mentioned the after parties yet!), it is crucial to be wardrobe-ready and have something to suit every occasion. “We usually prepare our outfits the week before. We tend to choose outfits that complement each other, and are also versatile for the temperamental weather. Comfort and color are our two main mantras.” We hear you ladies! Preparation is key, as every savvy dresser will tell you.
Now let's get down to the good stuff, Nicole talks us through her sister’s look for the day: “Rachel is the Princess of the duo. This shows through her style. She chose the white floral top paired with the pencil skirt. The fur was a part of another Primark coat, but since the weather is too warm for the whole coat, it was appropriated as a semi-gilet!”
Now that’s what we call sassy styling, it’s all about making your accessories work for you!
And as for Nicole's #OOTD, we wanted to know if the sisters share the same taste in clothes, as well as a love for blogging. Rachel explains: "Nicole tends to be a little sassier, which shows in her dressing. The fringe detail on the jacket was a sure go-to. The jacket is comfortable with a splash of sass. The weather is getting chillier here in NYC, so this jacket was the perfect layering piece over an athletic bralette." Sassy is officially our new favourite word.
