Primark x MassArt Collaboration
To commemorate our Boston store opening, Primark recently collaborated with the local Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Students designed a unique, one-of-a-kind store art installation to be revealed on the grand opening of the Downtown Crossing store on September 10th, which will stand inside the 70,000 square foot store.
'Visual Design and Display' allowed students to explore the possibilities of creating an art installation for a retail environment - and to build said installation with the prospect of presenting it at our Boston Downtown Crossing store.
One talented arts student, Victoria Reynolds, was selected out of the group of 12 to bring her concept to life - a concept entitled 'Metamorphose' - which we also liked as it kinda represented our new stage as a company as we arrive on the US market. Now that the class have finished working on bringing this project to fruition, they're set to continue working with us as they enter 'Product Development', in which they'll design apparel lines that mirror the Primark aesthetic and ethos - pretty cool, right? In January, we will be selecting one (or maybe even two) lucky student(s) to come work with us in Dublin for a summer internship. Exciting times all 'round stateside!
The group used a variety of mixed-media techniques to create the futuristic design (in which, if you look closely, you'll spot some customized Primark product), throughout the course which ran between mid July and the 10th September: our opening day!
