A Love Letter to Amsterdam
Hi there! I’m Noor, also known as "Queen of Jetlags". So you've probably already guessed I travel quite a lot – which makes my love for my hometown of Amsterdam even bigger. Amsterdam's one of my fave places to be, and I’m so excited to share all the reasons why!
I live on the East Side of Amsterdam, close to the city's zoo. I love the restaurant De Plantage next door to the zoo. And "Artis" is my go-to place for coffee, lunch, business and weekend chilling. The food's delicious, the restaurant has Parisian vibes, and in the garden, you can hang with flamingos under fairy lights!
Everybody that's ever gone to Amsterdam knows "Rokin", the big street in the city center in front of the central station. It's where you can shop, have the best fries with Dutch mayo, and hop on a tour boat to guide you through the canals. Did you know Amsterdam has hidden places you can only see by boat? Of course, I know a tour like this sounds kinda cheesy and a typical touristy thing to do – but trust me, it’s a really fun way to explore the city from a different point of view.
Another great spot is Dam Square. As you walk from the central station towards the city center (via Rokin), you end up at "the Dam", as we Dutchies call it. This square is chock-full of street artists and food stands, and surrounded by the best shops. Fun fact: I love shooting pics at the square – the lighting in photos looks so good!
Because I spend so much time in hotels, I love being in my own home. There’s only one place in Amsterdam I'd choose over my own place: The Amstel Hotel. Seriously, Google it. It’s next to the prettiest Parisian-style bridge and has the craziest rooms!
Last but not least, I want to talk about the most popular attraction in Amsterdam. You can probably guess what I mean: the famous canals. I love exploring them all, watching sunsets and taking pictures. Because they're all so different, it's like a never-ending hobby! And there are always new shops, lunch places and coffee spots to find when exploring. The easiest and most fun way to check out all Amsterdam's big and little canals is how a true Amsterdammer would do it: on a bike. It really is true – we ride our bikes everywhere! And you can, too! There are so many bike rental shops in the city, you can find one on the corner of every street.
I hope you love Amsterdam as much as I do!
