The Re:Mark: Summer Dreaming
This week kicked off with a catwalk presentation from the great people at WGSN, talking about all things FW 17/18. A moody winter palette and glitzy partywear sounded way too familiar to me: that’s still where my head's at (I’m wearing head-to-toe black as I type!). It made me realize it’s time to focus on what's here and now! Mornings are getting warmer and nights are getting lighter (finally!) making my commute home a lot better. So let's all breathe a big sigh of relief for the new season (yay!) – it’s about time I get myself in the right head space for it.
I feel like I haven’t written about my flat in a while – or maybe I should say, indulged in writing about my flat. The place I still call "new" has actually been home for almost eight months now. How time flies when you spend every penny on furniture and renovations (*lists more clothes on Ebay*)! The spring sun has finally started to shine, and all my thoughts are of summertime... I’m already totally excited for my first East London summer! I'm dreaming about breakfast on my terrace and afternoon park picnics.
Next on the reno list: the makeshift roof "terrace". I can't wait to make it "official" and pretty so I can start hosting out there! I’ve had some major inspo from our Out of Africa feature, all lush green plants and woven baskets. A roof terrace also means a shortcut to the sun the minute it comes out – which means I need new summer clothes...
I’m already planning my summer look: it’s going to be all about cold shoulder tops in baby blue gingham, raw-hemmed boyfriend jeans and lightweight DB blazers.
And with our new collection looking this gorgeous, and Bardot tops starting at just $15, it doesn’t need to be naughty little treat either. Thank you, Primark! Is it more denim you crave? Let Jodie Jones talk you through our latest and greatest...
Another new obsession of mine: fluted sleeves – they add a certain "je ne sais quoi" to any look. Although a potential dinner party catastrophe – those sleeves love to get in on the food action – it won’t stop me rocking one on my next evening event (and it should stop you, either!). I’ll be wearing mine tucked into a high-waist pencil skirt, loose over boyfriend jeans, and casually tossed on with denim cutoffs once the mercury hits 80 degrees.
I’m looking forward to weekend brunching, working from home, and dining al fresco on my little roof terrace once the sun is high in the sky.
