The Re:Mark: Park Life
Even though I've lived in my new flat for almost 10 months, it's taken me until now to discover the delights of living near a lush London park. And by near, I mean right across the road! Now I have no excuses for forgetting that weekend run, tennis game and outdoor dining with friends. What’s taken me so long to get into the park life groove?
Being completely in love with my new abode means I’ve been more than happy to spend all my spare time there. Redecorating, rearranging furniture, planning renos, cooking, entertaining – you name it, I’ve been doing it. Even up til last weekend I'd only strolled around the park twice, my baby nephew in tow, hoping he'd fall asleep in his buggy. But this weekend while the sun was shining bright, I saw the park in a whole new light – literally.
My Friday evening was spent with friends picnicking in the park, surrounded by lots of other locals doing the same. Of course they all brought their doggies! Maybe one of my fave things about park life: #majordoglover.
After a couple of hours sun gazing and watching the world go by, I couldn't believe I'd waited this long to venture out into the great outdoors. Being a fashion editor, I love to style the whole scene, too. Hot pink cushions, leopard print throws and dishware to match – it’s time to take your décor faves outside, and right now I’m seriously into color!
I made a promise to myself there and then that I was going to make the most of living one street away from the park. I was tempted out not just by the warm weather, but by the tennis courts, the ready-made running track and checking out everyone’s summer threads. Ripped denim shorts and sassy slogan tees for casual days, and floral dresses for Sunday (park) best. Check! Although I have to say, the kids might've been the best dressed last week – Louise, our Kidswear Assistant Editor, coined the look "Kidchella"!
I'd recently decided to get back into running, and after seeing so many peeps doing their laps Friday night, I had no more excuses and plenty of inspo. The next morning, I got up, put my running gear on and jogged to the park to join my fellow fitness friends. I swear there's nothing better for the soul than early morning running, breathing the cool air, upping your heart rate and starting the day on an endorphin high!
So until the roof terrace is done, it's going to be all about the park for me. Now all I need to do is dig out my tennis whites to serve up the perfect look for the courts... Who's game?
