Style Me Curvy: Sunsavers
Written by Louise O'Reilly
Shopping for swimwear can be a tough task. For Louise O’Reilly of Stylemecurvy fame, our recent influencer trip to Mykonos was the perfect excuse to put our swimwear to the test. Here Louise gives you all the deets on our most on-trend swimsuits.
Strong colors for swimwear is something I really love, especially colorblock: it's a workhorse piece you'll have in your summer wardrobe for years. Both these swimsuits have ab control, but with different plunging necklines.
This statement red swimsuit gives a halter neck illusion from the front, plunging into a soft, gentle V. At the back there's a perfect line which drapes so elegantly down the spine to the high-waisted brief.
This bright pink baby has a beautiful plunged look. It's secured both at the top and base of the V-cut plunge with a tie detail, so you can define your waistline as much as you want. For added effect you can add a thin waist belt like I did here. Both styles are super easy to accessorize if you're going for a beach club vibe. They also come in different colors, like black and olive.
For the past two years we've seen variations of ruffle inspo on the catwalks; fusing it with swimwear's a perfect blend of the trendy and practical. This style's fantastic if you want a curvier shape – it instantly adds balance to a frame with mixed proportions. A ruffle can also create the illusion of a fuller chest by adding a soft lift.
Ruffle option #1:
Nautical stripes: the horizontal lines work with every shape. This Bardot-inspired style can be worn as shown, or totally off the arms and shoulders.
Ruffle option #2: Color block with a medium-support panel. The adjustable straps secure the chest and feature a soft ruffle and boho lace trim.
This cut can be worn with or without straps and has a medium-control inset. You can restyle swimwear like this for a vacay with wide leg pants, skirts or denim to max your suitcase space.
I just love prints for creating an illusion: you can elongate your torso, balance out proportions or camouflage your lower abs. This style has a soft V-plunge with adjustable straps to give light support for various cup sizes.
