Female farmers in India

Delivering education to cotton farmers

Our cotton program in India

Our Ethical Trade team visited cotton farmers in Gujarat, India, with our partners SEWA (Self-Employed Women’s Association) and BSR (Business for Social Responsibility). Gujarat is one of the key cotton growing regions in India.  Together, we're running a groundbreaking program to deliver health education to female cotton farmers. The farmers are also participating in our program in association with  CottonConnect to grow more environmentally friendly cotton.
It's rewarding to see the impact that the program is having on the villages and the communities, and the enthusiasm of everyone involved. This is a three-year pilot program, and one of the challenges we're addressing now is how we can take this program and expand it so that it reaches more cotton farmers and more villages.
