Primark is committed to reducing the impact that it has on the environment, and as part of that commitment Primark has signed up to the UK’s Sustainable Clothing Action Plan (SCAP) and the European Clothing Action Plan (ECAP).
Primark is looking forward to working with SCAP and ECAP to achieve its environmental sustainability goals, including the use of more sustainable fibres and developing its recycling programmes.
The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply Management Awards have named Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme as the Winner in its ‘Best Contribution to Corporate Responsibility’ category, at an awards ceremony in London on 15th September. Primark beat five other shortlisted entries to the top spot.
The judges said, “This was an extremely well-thought out and executed entry. It takes its organisation onto a new level and will enhance its reputation significantly.”
Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Awards has nominated Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme as a Finalist in The Unilever Global Development Award category. This category recognises businesses that can demonstrate a positive impact against one or more of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Primark’s programme contributes towards four of the UNMDG’s seventeen goals, ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’, ‘Gender Equality’, ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ and ‘Life on Land’.
The Corporate Engagement Awards (CEA) has named Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme as its ‘Grand Prix’ winner. The CEA also awarded Primark Gold in both the Best Collaborative Approach and Best Environmental or Sustainable Programme categories, at an awards ceremony in London on 21st June.
The edie Environment & Energy Awards have named Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme as the Winner in its ‘Environmental Initiative’ category, at an awards ceremony in Birmingham on 16th May. Primark beat six other shortlisted entries to the top spot.
