Let’s be real ladies, there’s no way we’re making it through an entire holiday with only hand luggage. That minimal packing thing is for a certain type of superwoman and, as hard as we try, the cape just doesn’t fit. For us, our carry-on bag is for those necessary extras that take us from one border to the next looking and feeling fresh. So to have you prepped for a summer of sophisticated travels, take a peek inside our carry-on bag to see what you should be packing:
If boredom strikes you easily, or flying gives you flutters, having a few distractions packed in your carry-on should help keep your spirits high. Nothing satisfies a thirst for gossip like a celeb magazine, but for the more creative (or fidgety) amongst us, think old-school and get that notebook and pen packed! Flying is the perfect time for making lists and planning, whether that’s future goals, or planning your vacay outfits! If escapism is truly on the agenda, unwind with a new book (if you’re yet to read #GIRLBOSS now is the time), or take relaxation to new heights and get snoozing!
Our top tip for bringing beauty on-board is to pack your must-have minis in your carry-on bag, and stash full-sizes of your faves securely in that suitcase. So what essentials do we love to pack? Flying is notorious for drying out your skin, so it’s important to keep things refreshed! Start with a cleansing wipe to ensure a clean base, and then apply a facemask to help rejuvenate that complexion! A spot of concealer should hide signs of a 4am wake up call, while a dab of lip balm will help to prep those lips for bold holiday lipstick shades!
Soundtracks and selfies
Face it, our phone never leaves our side, but a good few hours spent on airplane mode is enough to drive us crazy. Fear not, though you can’t check in on the latest @primarksnap story at 35,000 feet, you can capture the excitable holiday faces of you and your squad with the ultimate holiday necessity – the selfie stick. A pair of headphones travel everywhere with us, so why not plug yours and your bestie's into a headphone splitter, and jam to Bieber together or drown out those noisy snorers with your favourite podcast?
Though a carry-on bag just isn’t enough room for our entire holiday wardrobe, should the dreaded occur, and your perfectly packed suitcase travel to a different destination than your own, it helps to have a few basics in that hand luggage. Pack underwear, sun cream and money to be safe, or head for the nearest Primark and let our rails take the stress away!
