#PrimarkMeets Grumpy Cat: Debrief
When the opportunity arose to meet with one of our generation’s hottest Internet stars, we started prepping our London Press HQ for some serious posing and purring… That’s right fashionable felines - last week the Grumpy Cat graced our press office throne. Perfectly preened with her selfie game strong, Tardar Sauce (aka Grumpy), came for the latest installment in the #PrimarkMeets series, with a handful of fans, to showcase the Primark Grumpy Cat collection. Incase you missed the action over on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat (she is a viral sensation after all), we’ll fill you in on what went down when Grumpy Cat hit LDN…
Comfortably travelling with her owner Tabatha, Grumpy arrived to a room full of starstruck fans and nestled into to her cushion throne. As Grumpy surveyed the room looking adorable and, well, grumpy, a surge of mobile phones loaded up Snapchat for a ‘story’ soon to be filled with repetitive images of Miss Tardar Sauce herself.
The event was a true celebration of Grumpy Cat, with the feline star taking centre stage, and the Primark range tempting our fave bloggers to get snapping (post-selfie with the cat herself, of course). There to feast their fashionable eyes on, was the entirety of the Grumpy Cat collection, from bedding and cushions, to nightwear and stationery, served up to purrfection (too much?). Though we’re pretty sure Grumpy was a fan of the range, we thought a quick chat with Tabatha may prove more insightful! Just as we hoped, she loved the collection: “It’s awesome! I literally want everything in this room.” We know the feeling… So what did she think of London? Just like us, she was a fan of the weather “we brought the Arizona heat with us!” - uhuh correct! And of course, we were desperate to know Grumpy’s plans for the rest of her British Invasion, her response? “Grumpy Cat would love to have tea with the queen” - she is one royal cat after all!
Though the star of the show was undoubtedly Madame Grumpy, another milk-filled treat held our attention on the evening. The team at Molly Bakes, scrumptious London-based bakery, were on hand to provide a deliciously naughty dessert: the Freakshake. Famous for their extravagant ingredients and tremendous toppings, the Australian food trend has made its way to the UK and, thankfully for our tastebuds, to our Grumpy Cat event! With a choice of chocolate or caramel available, we sipped and slurped our way through milkshake, whipped cream, melted chocolate and a blowtorched marshmallow (no lie), leaving just enough room for the Grumpy-faced biscuit on top! It’d be rude to not enjoy some form of milk in Grumpy Cat’s presence, no? We simply took it to a whole new level of delicious…
So as we got our ‘Grumpy’ on with the greatest masks ever, finished editing pics of our decadent drinks, and stared into Tardar Sauce’s grumpy eyes, the event came to a close. With one too many uses of our very own Grumpy Cat Snapchat filter and a lifetime of whipped cream consumed, we made a mental shopping list of what we’d be buying from the collection (ahem, everything). Packing our bags and waving goodbye to a content-looking kitty, we think the secret’s out that Grumpy Cat is one happy little feline.
