The minimalist spa
The bathroom; once a place to brush your teeth and commence the monthly shave, is now the hub for Pinterest dreamin’. As our love for floor tiles and brushed gold taps reaches new levels of obsessive, styling up the ‘boring’ room of our abode has never been so enjoyable. So we’re keeping you sweet this sunshine season, and settling those cravings to chic-up your space with minimalism in mind…
The reality of our bathroom? Major clutter. Once all the necessities are thrown into the mix – sink, toilet, bath, cabinet, 25 bottles of the same moisturiser – the situation quickly shifts from ooooh to ohhh dear.
Our ‘space of serenity’, with bubble bath drawn and chilled music playing, loses its soothing potential when overflowing with fixtures. So we’re stripping it back with a nod to true minimalism, decorating only with accessories that steal the show. Think calm colour palette, marble finishes and practical pieces, prepping you for an evening of unwinding (and some pretty dreamy Insta pics).
This season, grey serves as a neutral base for our colour scheme, with splashes of teal for a fresh finish throughout the room. Be selective with accessory choices, less is more in this instance: opt for cream candles to keep the calm vibes flowing, and think big with your laundry basket to avoid a scattered-clothes-on-the-floor situ (…we’ll be right back).
Rely on patterns to make a statement, instead of overcrowded accessories. Geometric print is our go-to this season, and continues that Scandi aesthetic we’re sure you’re repping throughout the rest of your home.
With everything required for a quick fashionable fix-up, it’s time to jump in the shower and freshen up for a trip into store: your bathroom is soon to be the best room in the house.
