LCM Trend Report- Wide Leg Trousers
London Collection Men’s is the place to see and be seen, a key moment in fashionista’s calendar. Whilst fashion is shown on the catwalks and presentations, it’s style that’s seen on the streets and sidewalks. We worked with fashion photographer Holly McGlynn to capture the best looks around, round them up and compile nice and neatly into trend reports just for you. For this report we look at the emergence of wider cut trousers.
Looser fits have been slowly creeping up, dominating catwalks and the sidewalk for sometime now. The wide leg trend resurrects silhouettes and shapes from the past, modernising and reinterpreting for today. Think 70's flares reimagined in slim cuts, boot cut denim and 90's wide legs cargos offering liberation from the skinny fit, which has ruled supreme for more than a decade now.
To declare the skinny dead or dying would be foolish yet as the law in fashion goes, there's a cycle. This is based on reactions to moods and moments, in response to that the wider leg trouser has emerged.

One way to wear would be to shift the sleek and slim lines to the top of the outfit. This helps to emphasise the width of the cut on the bottom. When thinking of the bottom half, keep in mind, slouchy yet not slack. Let's also bear in mind the type of footwear, think chunky shapes as you don’t want the hem dragging on the floor. A key note to make would be wide but not too wide as you don't want to be swamped.
