Update your look...

Refresh your wardrobe with our second spring drop

The second drop of our Undercurrent trend lands in stores this week and with new lines dropping daily, there’s always something to catch the eye. The overall theme remains the same with the collection largely inspired by the movement of water with aquatic shades and sporty silhouettes. The updates focus falls on the silhouettes, moving on from full-length jeans and shirts to shapes more suitable for the springtime season. Classic cuts such as t-shirts and shorts are refashioned in on trend hues spanning from teal to tobacco brown.

Warmer weather calls for airy garments and with spring you can switch looser layers to lighter options, as it’s still not warm enough to indulge in full on summer dressing. So wearing an aviator jacket with a t-shirt underneath and   slightly rolling up your chinos seems like the perfect way to opt into the look.

There's an air of casualness that runs throughout this collection, played out in items such as informal shirts with cropped sleeves, perfect for throwing over a t-shirt or balancing out an otherwise sporty look. Think a jersey baseball jacket, paired with some joggers and slightly sharpened yet not stiffened by the addition of a short sleeve, unstructured shirt. Key items appear in a number of different colourways and cuts, from the diverse range of shirts in a multitude of patterns, prints and fits to casual jackets such as the aviator and Harrington. Another key piece would be the hoodie, ideal for the lighter showers that occasionally occur in springtime or for layering with the lightweight jackets on offer.

The laid back feel continues with denim paired with denim from the jeans jacket and shorts combo to an assortment of t-shirts in a multitude of colours from the primary to pale. Print is inspired by nature from faded floral motifs to distorted marble prints. All of these details add to the relaxed approach and effortless appeal the collection conjures.

Accessories always add to or help complete a look and with the sun finally rearing its head we’ve got what you need to look and stay cool from snapback caps and sunglasses in different styles. We’ve also got lightweight multi pocket backpacks and minimal PU trainers that are adaptable to a wide range of outfits and looks.

Lynsey Carroll, Designer, Menswear

“Undercurrent offers our customer a fresh, clean palette for SS16 taking its colour cues from the sea and aquatic life. Shades of optic white, indigos, bright blues and aqua green tones are key;

Graphics take their lead from sea-life imagery, waves and tie-dye effects.

The flight jacket is a statement piece within this trend, as well as the graduated indigo knit jumper, both of which work well with the washed out grey denim jeans.”
