The Re:Mark by Jayne Bibby
Without a holiday booking in sight and with this year running away from us, I’m in need of a getaway, some downtime and a break away from the hectic city life. I love the hustle and bustle of city life, but every once in a while a retreat to the homelands is in order.
This weekend I’m travelling north to the heart of Scotland, and ‘Gateway to the Highlands’ to my hometown, to see the fam, enjoy some much needed R’nR and catch up with some very important people in my life – my niece and nephews.
For any of you who are yet to discover the delights that Scotland has to offer, I would highly recommend taking the train from London Kings Cross and along the picturesque east coast, with the train’s perfectly quaint name ‘The Highland Chieftain’ only adding to the drama. It all sounds very Harry Potter, doesn’t it, like a trip to Hogwarts? And it is a bit, with the dramatic rolling hills setting the scene for a magical getaway.
However, if five and a half hours on a train all sounds a bit much to you but you’re hooked on the HP appeal then why not keep your feet firmly on the ground this weekend. With less effort then even a game of Quidditch, I suggest you treat yourself to a Harry Potter movie marathon instead, complete with PJs to match. Or keep it super chic in our Harry Potter bomber jacket and body as you venture out and about on your weekend strolls.
With my soya latté and inspirational reading for the week in hand, I am set for the trip. It’s just the simple issue of fitting everything into my little weekender bag. I’m a fashion girl that never learnt to travel light - #SorryNotSorry – but those loafers, boyfriend jeans, bomber jacket, workout gear and three pairs of heels are all essentials – not to mention the REST!
This week we’ve been sharing some hints and tips for carry-on bag essentials for those of you lucky enough to be heading off to sunnier climes; it’s definitely worth a read. I should really take heed.
And if you’ve been courting the aforementioned bomber jacket as much as me this season then we have the perfect commuter-friendly reading for you this week – take a look at what’s just landed in store.
So with Thursday being the new Friday and the weekend nearly upon us, I think it’s time to sit back, whether that’s on a train, a plane, or simply at home, and relax. I’m off to pack my ever-expanding bag and let Scotland cast a spell on me. See you next week.
