The Re:Mark by Jayne Bibby

From London to Florence and back, it’s been non-stop as fashion week takes hold and thoughts turn towards all things masculine…

It's been a menswear-filled couple of weeks, as LC:M took over the streets of London, with new locations on The Strand and in Marylebone providing a different vibe this season. The stretched out venues created less of a hub and street style was harder to come by, though the catwalks still delivered what London does best – the ability to shock and delight, as the men’s runways became the place for many designers to debut their womenswear offer.

We caught up with Ten magazine’s Will Johns and Lee Elias from Re-bel, ahead of the shows to find out how they ready themselves for fashion week. We also hung out with some of our very own, as Olly and Marcello gave us a glimpse into their fashion buying world, while they spent the day surveying the streets for new trend inspo.

As LC:M came to an end, the fash pack relocated to Florence for the menswear trade show Pitti Uomo. I too packed my case and headed to the romantic heart of Tuscany and birthplace of the Renaissance, all in aide of our latest editorial photo-shoot. Good work, if you can get it!

Using Pitti Uomo as the backdrop, the iconic courtyard became the location for our latest 'Day in the Life' feature - where we take a look at the people behind the brand and dare to ask them to reveal all – metaphorically speaking, of course. Models for the day were Scott, Ed and Blathnaid, all from our menswear buying and design team, who were suitably styled in key items from our spring/summer or autumn/winter collections.

For those of you who caught my Florence snapchat takeover, you will have seen that these guys have major #squadgoals appeal - but if not, defo follow primarksnap for all of our BTS future moments. It’s the place to be. Seriously. To see the final results from our city getaway, look out for our 'Day in the Life' feature coming soon.

With the infamous, overdressed and over-accessorised 'peacocks' posing up a storm outside Pitti, it was no surprise that men's tailoring received the most street style snaps. Perhaps it’s time we make a move towards the more casual cool look boys, eh? With that said there was a definite shift to more laidback attire with white leather trainers becoming the new loafer, and athleisure took on new form as neon sports trainers became the norm to wear with a three piece tailored treat.

Key trends we’re currently courting from Florence are coffee colours for tailoring as cream, mocha and espresso hues were worn together to strong effect. Stripes are the only print to be seen in this season and the neckerchief is back in abundance. Look out for our trend reports from our menswear editor Jaiden going live in the coming weeks.

With Milan fashion week over and done with, it’s time for a Parisian rendezvous for the last leg of menswear - I can just about taste the extra strong coffee and butter croissants from here.

I'll leave you with my postcards from Pitti. Til next week I’m signing off, arrivederci!
