Christmas Jumpers: Fashion Twist
Primark Christmas jumpers are as integral to the festive period as mince pies and Santa. So much so, there are two things you can be sure of each season: 1: we’ll sell out fast, and 2: come December 18th (Christmas Jumper day, FYI), you’ll encounter at least one jumper joker wearing the exact same style as you.
This year, avoid that awkward moment when a colleague rocks-up mirroring your own jumper choice, by turning yours into something truly unique…
We’ll be the first to say it: we love us some arts and crafts. Whether it’s customised clothing, makeshift decorations, or homemade gifts; a do-it-yourself spirit never fails to add a touch of personalised magic.
We’ve made a few stylish additions to three of our key styles for Christmas 2015. Featuring of-the-moment statement collars, military-inspired epaulettes and chic bow detailing, our DIY films aren’t just super cute, they’re easy to follow too.
And we haven’t even told you the best part yet. All the additional materials you’ll see in the Youtube videos can be found under a Primark roof near you! So get down to store, grab your sewing kit, and prepare to become your very own make-do-and-mend enthusiast. (P.S. If you’re more thumbs than thimbles, you may want to get some supervision for anything you find tricky.)
First up, we’ve decided to add a fashion finish to our Fairisle. The classic bow adds a gorgeous little touch, and is super simple to recreate. You can choose any colour, texture, or fabric you like, but we’ve selected a deep plum to match the pattern on the knit. Check out the clip, and give it a go!
We love a statement collar, especially when it’s tucked beneath a good bit of knitwear. This DIY example is perfect if, in a mad dash, you picked up a selection of jumpers. Mix and match it underneath all your Christmas jumpers for a regal touch to one and all. Plus, you can always layer the shirt underneath your existing knitwear collection, post-Christmas. Win-win!
Give generic Christmas jumpers the cold shoulder with a little bit of military detailing. Repurposing jewellery to create shoulder pads is a genius way to use up necklaces you no longer wear, or you can always pick up some new-season gems in store for a perfectly on-trend look.
Even if you intend to keep the sewing kit at bay and stay classic, there’s only one place you need to go for the best range of festive knitwear (and, no, it’s not your grandma’s house).
Hit up your local Primark store - it’s never too early! Get some inspo before you go, and don’t forget to share your sewing shenanigans with us on social!
