GLAMOUR take the £100 challenge
All of us fashion girls love to shop, that is a given, but how would you fare if you had to shop within boundaries? The rules are simple; one shop, one gift card and only a couple of hours to do it in.
I know, I know, it sounds pretty great to us too, we love a good supermarket sweep in our favourite store. So we asked the lovely fashion team at Glamour Magazine if they were prepared to take on the Primark £100 challenge, and they jumped at the chance. After all, this would allow them to do what they do best – shop, style and trend spot!
Don't forget to check out Glamour's recent editorial here, showcasing our lovely autumn/winter product and styling it up a storm for their 'I'm with the Band' shoot.
We asked them to visit their local Primark store, armed with a £100 gift card to pull out the best on-trend pieces, everyday favourites, and their cannot-live-without accessories, all at our super affordable prices. The only condition was - they had to document their purchases for us.
We couldn’t wait to see what they chose and also to see how they styled it up in their own way. And they certainly didn’t disappoint. Check out their results below and reasons behind the purchases. I don’t know about you, but we’re rushing down to store right now to snap up some of their goodies!
Alison Weatherhogg - Lead Designer Glamour Bespoke
"I love Primark for finding those on trend pieces and am always surprised by what good quality it is! Being a 'jean girl' I choose tops and accessories that I can mainly wear with denim."
Alison Weatherhogg, Lead designer Glamour Designer
When it comes to fashion choices, Alison opts for pieces that will complement what she already has in her wardrobe. She goes for the fashion items that will update her look instantly, whether she dresses it up for the evening or pares it down with her favourite jeans. Judging by her shopping choices, Alison is very much an accessories girl too – using key items such as the tan leather, cross body bag and camel coloured trilby to instantly update her look, while giving a gentle nod to this season’s 70s trend too.
Karen Preston - GLAMOUR Fashion Editor
"I love to stock up on t-shirts and jeans from Primark, but you can always find something on trend to team them with that is affordable and stylish."
Karen Preston, Fashion Editor
It goes without saying that as Fashion Editor, Karen is an on-trend kinda girl, which can clearly be seen by her Primark purchases. The button-through denim dress and fringed jacket are two key pieces for the season sitting within the overarching Seventies trend. For her downtime however, Karen keeps it classic with a long sleeved Breton top and black denim dungarees. While her choice in ankle boots is one that will see her through the whole autumn/winter season.
Hannah Crawford - Junior Designer GLAMOUR Bespoke
"Primark is my first port of call when it comes to simple yet effective pieces. With such a wide selection of fast changing fashion items, I always know that whatever I buy will be current and on trend."
Hannah Crawford, Junior Designer GLAMOUR Bespoke
With winter slowly creeping in, Hannah has made sure she is fully equipped with transition items to see her smoothly through the season. This black suedette dress looks perfect with a bare leg but could easily be teamed with black tights to update it for a frosty morning. And speaking of frosty, the shearling-look coat is going to be every girl’s best friend this winter. For accessories, the open toe ankle boots and tan bucket bag are going to keep Hannah on trend til spring.
Congratulations GLAMOUR ladies, you have successfully completed the Primark £100 shopping challenge and we have loved seeing your purchases! Same time next season??
