The Re:Mark: Says Relax
I read this week that New York is no longer the only city considered to never sleep. Apparently Londoners feel more sleep deprived than anyone else in the UK, saying they’re simply too busy to sleep. Well I certainly know that feeling! In the run up to Christmas and with so much going on socially and at the office (deadlines galore, anyone?), isn’t it about time we start being good to ourselves?
No matter what part of the world you live in, the globe seems to be spinning faster each year – or is it just me? I love nothing more than a quiet night in, chilling at home and taking it easy, but days like that seem few and far between.
My day starts at 6am, I race to get ready and leave the house at 7:15am. Jump on the bus to the overground, to the tube, and finally to the train. Now over the first hurdle it’s onto a full day in the office, meeting deadlines, editing work, only to race out at 5:30pm to make my spin class which inevitably goes out the window when the train gets delayed and I face a 30-minute wait. Where’s the ‘me time’ in that?
So this Christmas my gift to myself is time and relaxation. How extravagant! Or is it? With the holidays coming up I think it’s about time we all do less and chill more. Cancel that fifth Christmas party you feel obliged to attend just because ‘tis the season, and make a date with your sofa. Winter is the perfect season to invest in new loungewear or what I like to call ‘comfs’ – you know your comfiest clothes you like to wear simply to recline in, relax and veg out in.
Maybe even kit out your entire room to really enhance the mood for a winter weekend of calm.
Whether you’re into coordinating a grey marl track top with matching bottoms (slipper socks optional), or if oversized checked pyjamas and hoody are your go to, loungewear is your friend this year. They say the best gifts are made when you give to others something you really want for yourself, so why not make someone’s Christmas morning with the gift of requiescence.
Pyjamas are a Christmas classic and something we’re all used to receiving as a gift or stocking filler on the big day. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or your family, pyjamas are something that Primark does best – check out these seasonal checked beauts and tell me you don’t fancy a pair.
Forget the rushing around and pre-Christmas panic and welcome a little bit of well-deserved down time. You won’t see me rocking around the Christmas tree this year, but I will be rocking my favourite comfs and chilling out in the flat. Home alone just got a whole lot more appealing.
