Don't Miss This Spring Trend!
Of all the New Year clichés that surface in January, there’s one in particular that we can really get behind: a ‘fresh start’. At Primark HQ we interpret a ‘fresh start’ as a chance to reinvent our wardrobes. And, with springtime’s imminent arrival, the promise of (slightly) warmer weather urges us to dream of the new season’s fashion crop.
Naturally, a change in weather calls for the seasonal duty of inviting the latest trends into our sartorial repertoire, and we can’t think of a better place to start than with our spring collection: Humble and Laundered. After months of wrapping up, it’s officially time to start considering shedding a few layers, and rethinking your approach to getting dressed.
Crop top £4, sleeveless blazer £13
Don’t worry – you don’t have to compromise your vow to recover financially from the festive season. Price tags on our new season range start from £3, so you can afford to replace the holes Christmas burnt in your pockets, instead of sewing them up!
Jacket £23, tee £4, jeans £15, boots £18
For spring 16, it’s all about timeless classics and key transitional pieces. Think relaxed, yet sophisticated rain macs and tweed-style cropped jackets; both pinnacles of effortless style. As statement standalone pieces, these spring jackets can be styled with practically everything – we suggest teaming with simple tees and denim accents.
On that note, denim is also a key part of our spring story. Updates come through in the form of chic rips and loose fits, which demonstrate comfort and style working in harmony. Start the season with a dark wash, and evolve your collection to incorporate lighter rinses and white denim, as the summer approaches.
Dress £12, crop top £3
Dresses are also prominent, with denim finding a home in easy silhouettes. Our denim pinafore’s smart-casual appeal pushes it firmly into transitional territory; swap a daytime tee for a crisp white shirt to move your look from day to night, and take this piece into summer, with a simple bandeau. A beautiful piece, this denim number will become your go-to when ease-of-wear dictates your #OOTD.
In terms of colour, the collection’s palette maintains a neutral feel. Safari classics like khaki green and sandy cream accent a predominantly blue and white selection, with easy striped shirts ushering in cool blue hues, and heralding yet another key item in the Humble and Laundered look.
Yes, shirts are big news too, but this season they’ve lost their smarter connotations, and should be worn loose with relaxed denim and a nonchalant attitude. And, if a shirt doesn't align with your personal style aesthetic, opt into the striped look. A key direction for print, pattern, and fabric, the humble stripe comes through on simple crop tops and textured bouclé jackets.
"We’re loving our Humble & Laundered look for SS16. The oversized laundered stripe shirt is a key piece, and looks great worn with indigo or white denim."
