The Re:Mark by Jayne Bibby
Over in our Dublin head office last week my team were lucky enough to spend the afternoon with the delightful Alessandra Steinherr, Beauty Director at Glamour Magazine by day, and perfectly preened by night. Hearing her talk about the beauty industry, what’s hot right now and where to aim for in the future got me thinking about my own beauty regime and whether it was time to shake things up.
For many years I’ve lived by a strict cleanse, tone and moisturise routine - instilled by my mum at a young age - I never fail to remove my make-up at the end of the day, apply a high SPF to my face, and bronze my skin all year round to retain a healthy glow.
All those who know me, know that to see me without freshly painted red nails and slick of fuchsia lipstick is very possibly the beginning of the end, or a very dark day indeed. It’s become part of my uniform and also part of my reputation – not sure if that’s a good or bad thing? You decide.
But with so many new products on the market and new launches happening almost daily, could it be that I’m missing out by getting stuck in my ways?
Is the perfect eyeliner flick still a classic look or a bit passé, should I be focussing on the nude lip rather than a bold bright, and should straightening my hair be a thing of the past?
The recent launch of our premium make up range PS Pro has paved the way to purchasing professional quality products at amazing value prices. I was tempted to try the range out after raving reviews from our beauty buyers and bloggers alike.
I can proudly say that the Miracle Primer is now a mainstay in my beauty bag, used alongside the Lip Primer – keeping my pink lips on all day long – not to mention the Eyeliner Corrector pen, literally life changing when your winged flick just isn’t playing ball. And with so many new lipstick colours to choose from, it’s safe to say I plan to trial coral for the summer.
With festival season now in full swing it’s the year of all things that glitter. If you haven’t already read our Galactic feature by womenswear editor Jodie Jones then I urge you to, if only to get the lowdown on all things cosmic this season. Or if hair is more your thing, we have the perfect how-to tutorial for you to follow over on our YouTube channel, to get you looking bang on trend in minutes.
When it comes to summer a nice natural tan is always high on my agenda, when you want to look tanned but not like you’ve fake tanned. Our latest launch looks at all things bronzed, with a collection spanning soft gradual tans to high impact colour and even glistening body oils to add a shimmer to your skin after a day in the sun: a must-have for any tanning goddess and a definite beauty bag essential.
Looking down at my nails while I type this has made me realise a trip to the nail bar is definitely in order, after all I wouldn’t want my reputation for perfectly painted nails to slip…
