Your official AW16 shopping list!
Can you believe this week marks the first full week of September? Neither can we. In case you haven’t already noticed, we’re super excited for autumn – we cannot stop talking about it. Why so? In the fashion sphere, September is basically the New Year, and we’re all about fresh beginnings, especially if it means shopping!
No one wants to get mixed up in the fashion furore, so make sure you’re heading to Primark with a clear, informed, and clued-up mind, with a pre-made shopping list made for you, by us (we know – so nice of us, right?). Tick off all the beauties your AW wardrobe can’t live without in one fell swoop, and don’t forget to thank us later…
Shirt £10, jeans £15
Stripes were once the cause of some serious eyebrow raises – the very thought brought people into sweats of illusory panic: “stripes are unflattering!”. Well, we’re here to eradicate that myth, and to prove it we’ve got some super stripes coming in for the new season. The striped tube dress is without doubt one of our key call-outs for autumn, and we think you’ll be interested in their silhouette-elongating properties! For werking gals, a spliced stripe shirt provides an office-appropriate way to dig the trend. And as the season deepens, look out for striped jumpers with glitter thread woven through for beautiful shimmer (perfect Christmas knits).
Padded bomber jacket £20, bodysuit £8, jeans £13
Bodysuits seem to have sprang out of nowhere, but one thing is for sure: we're not complaining! We love these figure-hugging numbers, and find their ability to never become ‘un-tucked’ quite frankly: perfect. For next season, the key piece is still winning, and you won’t be disappointed when it comes to finding them in store. Solid colours, ribbed fabrics, prints galore, choker finishes – whatever style you want, we’ve got you, girl.
If you haven’t already picked up a trusty bomber jacket, we can only pontificate as to why, and HOW? This military-inspired must-have has swept wardrobes across the world (okay, maybe not the whole world), and we just can't get enough. For autumn/winter, grab yours in a padded composition for extra warmth, and camo print for extra Pri-marks. You’ll also find this key piece gets a little lengthening treatment for AW16 too, as the long-line silhouette – favoured by menswear for the past few seasons – migrates into womenswear.
Lazy Sunday shoppers: Rejoice! Nipping out for your weekly ‘big shop’ is no longer a case for topknots and whatever clothes you can scramble together (since it’s also laundry day). PJ dressing is having a huge moment, and while we suspect autumnal hibernation may have inspired our design team, we LOVE this laid-back look. From subtler key pieces, like elegant blouses with contrast piping, to fluid trousers in silken fabrications, ‘borrowed-from-bedtime’ style is the one for AW16. Top tip: keep your eyes peeled when it comes to our nightwear offer, we have some truly GORGEOUS mens-inspired pyjama shirts coming in, that we'd wear with jeans fo' sho'.
Jumper £8, leggings £8
Hoodie £8, leggings £6
And finally, we’ve called out the sports trend before, and we’re doing it again. It’s not just a temporary fad, this casual, urban look is ideal for chill weekends, and not to mention hardcore shopping sessions, when comfort is paramount. Newness comes via long-line hoodies, slogan sweats, and luxe accessories (think suede-look baseball caps and velvet backpacks). Best of all, whether you’re a monochrome maven or colour-loving lass, the look extends a most hospitable hand to every style preference – check out these badboys if you want a brighter look.
Jacket £20, jumper £6, jeans £15
Yep, we can pretty much hear you nodding as you agree: we’re delivering the goods for autumn/winter. And, with one extremely convenient shopping list, you’ve got your wardrobe plans prepped, now it’s time to get limber and prepare of a touch of retail cardio. Finally, when you’ve grabbed the garbs and you’re looking fresh, upload to Primania to show off your style.
