This week kick-starts our My City, My Story campaign, a look into the home cities of some of our fave bloggers. From the deets on how a city can steal your heart, to the secret spots you have to visit, we’re taking a whistle stop tour around the world. First stop? Dublin. Travel blogger and all-round wanderlust queen, Anouska, is here to answer our questions and share her love. Dublin is her city, and here is her story…
What is the one thing you always tell people about where you come from?
That it rains a lot! Other than that, I always tell people that the Irish really are some of the friendliest people on earth. I always love coming home to Dublin and hearing the accent when I come back from a trip abroad.
What is the best thing about your city?
It’s quite small, so you’re always bumping into people you know!
How would you describe the fashion style of your city?
It’s varied and unique. People love to mix highs and lows to create a stunning look, and there are lots of great vintage shops, which I think has a big influence.
Describe a perfect day in your city from morning to evening?
For me, the perfect day in Dublin would start with breakfast in my garden, on a sunny day. Then I’d go into town to meet friends, have lunch and ice cream in the St Stephen’s Green Park. Afterwards, maybe rent a bike and cycle to Pheonix Park, and then go to a one-day music festival in the evening, and dance all night with friends!
Tell us one fun fact about your city not many people know?
Dublin’s O Connell Bridge is apparently the only bridge in Europe that is as long as it is wide. Interesting stuff right?
What’s your favourite secret place in your city?
If I told you, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore!
What is one city you would love to travel to but have never been?
Tokyo! I’ve always been fascinated with the culture, the lights, and the technology - I would absolutely love to visit one day.
What are your top tips for a successful shopping trip at your local Primark?
I always go into Primark knowing exactly what I want to buy, but I often get sidetracked by all the great new products they have dropping in every week. Because Primark has so much on offer, I think it’s good to give yourself plenty of time to browse. I particularly love the homeware, I always end up buying something new for my room every time I go in!
Finally... describe your city in three words
Eclectic, energetic, and friendly.
Why not satisfy that travel temptation and take a look at what else is going down in the world of My City Story? Take inspo from Anouska’s sophisticated city style over on Primania (FYI: There's a new #OOTD coming your way EVERYDAY!), then sit back and relax as she does all the walking in her Dublin vlog! Finally, keep your eyes peeled for Anouska's Love Letter to Dublin, hitting the site this week; swoon!
