The Re:Mark: New Home, New Start
So its official, I’m in the new flat! The move from north to east is complete and it’s finally time for me to enjoy my new surroundings.
First things first - working from home has now taken on a completely new meaning as I sit on the roof terrace soaking up the shimmering early morning sun with a fresh cafetiere of coffee, radio on and only my trustee laptop for company. I assure you it’s unadulterated bliss! I even found myself starting work at 7:30am this morning just so I could make the most of it. In fact it reminds me of my recent trip to Florence where my beautiful hotel room, just yards from Ponte Vecchio, had its very own terrace over looking a walled garden. I enjoyed my coffee alfresco then too. Anything that involves sunshine, caffeine and spot of writing and I’m in my element.
The roof terrace make-over is still to take place but I’ll definitely be taking cues from Alex Stedman and her Frugal Study Space when it comes to creating the perfect working space ambiance. With her inspirational mood board and copper accessories to die for (all Primark of course), it would almost be enjoyable to sit for hours with writer’s block! And if that’s not enough to tempt you, take a look at our Copper Rush accessories as the metallic trend takes over homeware.
Now that the weekends of packing, cleaning and constant coordinating are behind me it’s time to start having lazy weekends at home.
And by lazy weekends I mean lying in bed later than you’d care to admit, perfecting the loungewear look and making sure your surroundings are super cosy. But when I say loungewear there’s no need to assume this isn’t chic or completely desirable. Think silk mannish pyjamas or white cotton shorts and a ribbed vest combo. In fact, why not flirt with something a little more risqué – allow me to introduce our new lingerie range: a spaghetti strapped, lace panelled dream! Think embroidered triangle bras, lace bodysuits and multiple-strapped bralettes. Underwear is the new outerwear after all.
A new home means I have the perfect excuse to indulge in new bedding, cushions and throws as I create my perfect haven. With warm neutrals as my natural go-to, you can’t go wrong with soft grey tones, rich creams and textured whites for the bedroom and living room alike, perhaps allowing a delicate vase of pastel peonies to finish off the look, no?
With coffee and reading coming joint top of my fave things to indulge in at the weekend, I feel hours of blog reading, column writing and one soya latte too many coming on. You’ll find me either on the sun-drenched terrace or in the living room with the windows thrown open wide to let the world in; I fully intend to soak it all up and enjoy!
