New Ways With Workwear
Ugh: work. Underperforming, lazy, consistently missing the mark… if this sounds like your office wardrobe (and definitely NOT you on a Monday morning), there’s no need to call HR, just yet. We’ve got some new recruits for AW17, and boy are they up to the job!
No one likes office gossip (LOLs. Yeah right!), but those water-cooler dwellers will never be hushed, so give them something to really talk about this season… you’re totes incred style, of course! Before you know it, the hottest chat on the floor – aside from the way you slay EVERY task in hand – will centre around where you’re getting those fresh threads from. Ready for a style promotion? Apply within.
First on today’s agenda is the blazer; it’s having a massive moment. This time round, you can forget the ill-fitting school jacket you were forced to wear, and embrace something much more exciting. Our statement red style sits firmly within the ‘smart’ spectrum AND will take you from desk-to-dinner in no time at all; talk about off-the-Richter sass.
Other must haves on our work ‘drobe wish list are the Prince of Wales check jacket, which looks new and fresh layered over a hoodie, and double-breasted silhouettes with military buttons.
Blazer £17, trousers £15
Shirting has also been reimagined for AW17, with asymmetric cuts, reworked silhouettes, and statement sleeves breathing new life into the perennial workwear classic. For extra impact, welcome hardware details to the team, or set up a meeting between pussy bow necklines with distressed denim.
Moving on, did you get the memo about smart trousers? Wide-legged and fluid cuts are SO in right now, and tote appropes for profesh settings. Gone are the days of simply just commuting in trainers – keep those badboys on all day for a casual spin on formalwear. If sportswear in the boardroom is a step too far, opt for a pair of can’t-live-without loafers to keep your style mantra and line manager as happy as can be.
Any other business? Ah yes. Skirts. A-line silhouettes are holding it down in the skirt department, where zips and high-shine textures have been employed for a hit of newness. Go bare-legged for now, while it’s still warm enough, and sport sock boots when it’s chilly out. On top, everything and anything goes from bardot bodysuits to crisp white shirts.
While your capabilities are by no means linked to your panache for reworked suiting, feeling good about the way you look does wonders for your confidence and office demeanour. Next Monday, show them who’s boss and rock up to work feeling like CEO of the world. Meeting adjourned.
