The Re:Mark: Welcome 2017!
It’s the New Year; the festivities, parties, and for me, sun drenched holidays have all come to an end. Anyone would forgive you for feeling blue, downtrodden and downright depressed (see Blue Monday!). However, if you ask me, it’s all about restarting, realigning your goals, and giving yourself another shot at reaching your ambitions. Post-holiday I’m feeling refreshed and full of optimism for my year ahead. My resolution list is long, but my ‘worst bits of 2016’ list was short, so really it’s all to play for.
For me 2017 is all about getting my flat renovations well under way and all being well, completed. The initial excitement of being in a new flat and living with all the minor imperfections that come with a new home have well and truly worn off and I’m a woman on a mission now. The work on the bathroom starts later this month and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m going monochrome; white, grey and marble with a splash of my accent colour mustard obvs.
Speaking of which, our latest homeware shoot has me thinking all kinds of acid yellow thoughts. Whether you call it lime, fluoro or gold or amber - yellow is having a serious moment in homeware, and I couldn’t be happier. If copper, navy and all things pineapple also float your boat then Hawaiian Noir is the interiors addition you need this month to fend off those January blues.
For the true romantics among you, you’ll be delighted to hear that pink is having a comeback. Not only on the catwalks but for athleisure and homeware alike. And no I’m not talking about sickly sweet bubble-gum (though there are a few of those), I’m talking super sleek and grown up blush shades for days. Our womenswear athleisure collection is flirting with soft pastel pink tones all giving a nod to off-duty ballerina style. Something tells me that this will soon become my Sunday loungewear look - dreamy.
But if ‘sugar and spice and all things nice’ warms your heart, the hard-core romantics with fall head over heels for this hot new interior trend.
If your resolution was to hit the gym more and try to be a better version of yourself – you’ve come to the right place. Ladies, find your perfect sports bra, grab your accessories, and add breathable and sweat proof makeup to your gym bag. Guys, top up on your tracksuit staples, go crazy for camo, and make sure your loungewear is on point.
Everyone might be shivering in this winter chill, but I‘m already thinking ahead to spring and how I can update my wardrobe with key items that aren’t going to break the bank but will tell the world I’ve got my finger on the pulse. Easier said than done, sometimes.
Forget following the trends, it's all about the key items. If your Jan pay day seems to be taking forever to come around but you're itching to make a new purchase may I suggest one thing – the cult classic biker jacket. Somehow this little number suits everyone and never goes out of style. Investment piece? I think so!
Welcome to 2017 – I think I’m going to like it here.
