The Re:Mark: A Shot Of Pink
The millennial pink phenomenon hasn’t just made over our wardrobes and homes, but now it’s taking over our food orders too? This isn’t the first time I’ve written about pink. Back in March it was ruling the high street and was the #genderblur colour of the moment, and now it’s on the menu! Make mine a large!
It’s no secret that I love pink and have been welcoming it into my life with more enthusiasm each year. When I was decorating my flat last year it was a close call between a soft pink highlight against my calm grey backdrop, or going bolder with a mustard accent instead. Mustard won, and I don’t regret it but I do still lust over the pink interiors of Pinterest and Instagram. It seems I’m not the only one as rose gold interiors refuse to go away, and although it might not be in my home, it’s definitely in my heart.
My make-up bag has forever been decorated with the hottest lipstick pinks on the market; fuchsia, coral and magenta. But in aid of trying something new and updating my look for the summer season I’m about to enter into the world of nudes and candy pinks. But a cutesy, girly colour palette doesn’t have to look sickly sweet, as our Cotton Candy collection will show you. Think rose-tinted highlighter, matte pink lips and the most perfect everyday eye palette you can imagine. In fact, the everyday blush pink lippie might just my new fave.
However, it's not the millennial pink for interiors or lipsticks that I’m excited about. What’s really made me happy this week is the introduction of a pink latte – now you’re talking!
As an avid coffee drinker I’ve gone through my fair share of ‘usuals’. What started as a simple café latte soon turned into a skinny vanilla latte as I managed to convince myself this was less calories and less sugar… hmmm questionable.
After a month long visit to New York, I was hooked on an iced Americano with a touch of milk and a splash of agave syrup – ahh agave syrup possibly the best thing every invented. But once back in the cold UK this quickly morphed into a hot white Americano, sans sugar, closely followed by a move to soya latte as I developed a dairy intolerance. My poor barista didn’t know if he was coming or going as I’ve chopped and changed it so frequently.
So you can imagine my excitement when I read that the dragon fruit (the newest and sassiest super food, don’t ya know?) was entering the coffee world. Move over matcha, see ya later turmeric, there’s a new kid on the coffee block and it comes in millennial pink – what else?
Enter *Pitaya Latte. (*Pitaya; more commonly known as dragon fruit.) Think raw cacao butter, powdered pitaya and hazelnut milk making this pink drink taste like a white hot chocolate. Delish! But not only that, the health benefits of dragon fruit include; ability to lower cholesterol, boost the immune system, prevent heart disease, and boost energy. Being on trend and super healthy all in one cup. That’s me sold. Plus, it’s going to earn you major kudos over on Instagram!
