Modern Slavery Act

Primark Modern Slavery Act Statement 2016

In March 2015 the UK Government passed the ‘Modern Slavery Act 2015’ into law in the UK. The main aim of the Act is to tackle human trafficking and modern slavery in the UK. For businesses, the Act states that any organisation in the UK with a turnover of over £36m is required to publish an annual statement setting out what steps it has taken during its financial year to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in its own business and its supply chains.

Primark publicly supported the development of the UK Government’s Modern Slavery Act 2015 and takes any risk of forced and trafficked labour within its supply chain and its own operations extremely seriously. Primark Stores Limited’s Modern Slavery statement for 2015/2016 can be downloaded here. It covers Primark’s policies and information on how the company addresses risks both within its supply chain and its own operations. This statement will be updated annually, as per the Modern Slavery Act 2015 guidelines.
