Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme is selected as a Finalist in the Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Awards
Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Awards has nominated Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme as a Finalist in The Unilever Global Development Award category. This category recognises businesses that can demonstrate a positive impact against one or more of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Primark’s programme contributes towards four of the UNMDG’s seventeen goals, ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’, ‘Gender Equality’, ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ and ‘Life on Land’.
Primark win three awards, including the coveted Grand Prix award, at The Corporate Engagement Awards
The Corporate Engagement Awards (CEA) has named Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme as its ‘Grand Prix’ winner. The CEA also awarded Primark Gold in both the Best Collaborative Approach and Best Environmental or Sustainable Programme categories, at an awards ceremony in London on 21st June.
Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme Wins Environmental Initiative Accolade at the edie Environment & Energy Awards
The edie Environment & Energy Awards have named Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme as the Winner in its ‘Environmental Initiative’ category, at an awards ceremony in Birmingham on 16th May. Primark beat six other shortlisted entries to the top spot.
The National CSR Awards recognised Primark’s Sustainable Cotton Programme as Runner-Up in the ‘Best International Sustainable Community’ category at their awards in London on 12th May.
Primark today joined the German Partnership for Sustainable Textiles (Textilbündnis) further underlining its long standing commitment towards achieving social, environmental and economic improvements throughout the textile supply chain, a goal shared with the Textilbündnis.
Primark extends partnership with CottonConnect and the Self-Employed Women’s Association to support 10,000 female smallholders in India
Primark has today announced a six year extension of the Primark Sustainable Cotton Programme, a partnership designed to support women from traditionally male-dominated farming communities in Gujarat, India, to introduce sustainable farming methods, improve cotton yields and increase their incomes.
Primark has announced the start of a new partnership with the Department for International Development (DFID) to improve working conditions for garment workers in developing markets.
Primark notes the actions being taken by the Bangladesh courts against a number of individuals in relation to the collapse of the Rana Plaza building in 2013 and the recent media coverage of this. Primark was shocked and saddened by the Rana Plaza disaster, and that is why Primark responded by taking the many steps that it has.
