Behind The Lens With Josh Denzel

From growing up in Highbury in London to commentating at the NBA All-Star games, Josh Denzel has had an impressive career to date. Read on to find out more about our sportswear ambassador.

Josh is an accomplished and versatile presenter with a notable career in the entertainment and sports industry. His journey evolved, from covering sporting events on social media platform LadBible to collaborating with major brands and A-list celebrities across various media channels.

Throughout his career Josh has worked with BT Sport, Red Bull Racing, Sky Sports, BBC's MOTDx, and various other networks and brands, proving his ability to connect with diverse audiences and different roles. Most notably his role as England Football’s in-house presenter and as a core presenter on The Overlap alongside renowned sports personalities and analysts, Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher.

After a number of pinch me-moments in his career, we asked Josh what his career highlights are:

“I've had some truly incredible experiences in my career, one of those was when I had the honour of hosting the NBA Abu Dhabi Games. Picture this: I shared the stage with none other than the legendary Shaquille O'Neal, right in front of a roaring crowd of basketball fanatics! It was surreal”.

“Another highlight was back in 2017 when I got the invite to travel to New Orleans to cover the NBA All-Star Game. It was the first time I saw the All-Star action up close and personal, and I had the honour of meeting and interviewing a host of current players. That trip marked the start of a fun and collaborative relationship with the NBA, and we haven't looked back since”.

Since becoming Primark’s first sportswear ambassador in 2021, Josh has worked closely with NBA and NFL to release seasonal sports-themed collections in stores. Recently, he has collaborated with NBA to design the second drop of his own exclusive collection for Primark, NBA by Josh Denzel.

“Watching the concepts and ideas evolve from mere conversations into the range we see today has been nothing short of remarkable. The entire process has been exciting, starting from those design meetings months ago with the talented Primark team. We discussed shapes, silhouettes and colour palettes, constantly refining the range to ensure that each sports team was represented in a way that felt just right. It's been a true labour of love and I'm thrilled to see the collection in-stores”.

The current collection consists of 13 items with basketball teams — Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks — featured on a variety of t-shirt and hoodie styles.

Speaking on his favourite ways to wear the newest drop: “The Chicago Bulls hoodie in the brown colourway with a pair of black cargos could be my favourite combo at the moment.”

Over the years, athleisure has emerged as a predominant wardrobe staple. From laid-back weekends to WFH ensembles, Josh’s passion for the ever-growing fashion industry helped create the on-trend designs that have been embedded within this collection: 

“I’ve got a sharp eye for fashion and you can often spot me strolling down Oxford Street, hunting for the latest pair of trainers or that elusive piece of clothing that'll complete an outfit I've been meticulously putting together for days!”

 “Working alongside Primark has been an amazing experience as I’ve been a fan of the brand since my school days. Collaborating with them to create the second range has been a surreal and incredible journey”.
