Primark X Soccer Aid: Picking The Team Suits
We awere so excited to be the Principal Partner of Soccer Aid for UNICEF for last year’s charity game, marking our second year in partnership with the soccer fundraiser. We dressed up the team so they'd look ther best on arrival. Scroll to see the suits that ambassador Kem Cetinay picked out.
Ahead of last year’s Soccer Aid match in partnership with UNICEF, we caught up with World XI striker Kem Cetinay: we gave him the chance to pick and design the suits for all the players and staff as they arrived at Etihad Stadium in Manchester on Saturday September 4th.
The final two suits needed to work together but also have versatility within the options, to fit the wide range of players and preferences on both teams.
Kem explained; "They were matching patterns in different colors. They both came with a zip up jacket for a more casual option; but also obviously we had the matching suit jacket too, so it gave the players and staff a chance to pick whether they wanted to go dressy or casual."
Dipping his toes into womenswear, Kem also picked a blouse to wear with the suits, tailored to fit the female players.
"I chose a very classy, elegant, blouse for the ladies, which I hope they liked!""
As the self-proclaimed "clinical striker" for the World XI, Kem Cetinay got in touch with David James, soccer legend and England’s goalkeeper in the Soccer Aid clash, to decide which team would wear what suit from his Primark X Soccer Aid picks.
After a tense decider of rock, paper, scissors, Kem came out victorious: the World XI would be wearing our classic navy herringbone suit or matching dressy bomber jacket, with either a premium white shirt or cowl neck, finished off with a tie.
Meanwhile, the England XI had our luxe gray check suit and dressy bomber jacket as options, with the same white shirt but finished with a black tie.
You can get the look in store from later this month, including two nostalgic Soccer Aid tees featuring soccer legends Gazza and Maradona. We’ll be donating 50% of the proceeds from both tees directly to Soccer Aid, plus you’ll get the chance to donate to the cause at our registers.
Tune into ITV or STV on Saturday, September 4th to see how the game plays out...
