Recreate Café-Style Dining At Home

If coffee-and-cake or brunch is a fave part of your weekend, fear not: it still can happen. Can’t go out to the café? Bring the café to you! Spend the morning baking cookies or your fave pastry (ready-made croissant dough? don't judge!) and fill the air with that fresh-baked smell. Pop some pods in your coffee machine or do a French press, froth up the milk and set the table. Recreate your fave art gallery café or coffee shop's style at home: rearrange your kitchen table, clear the surfaces to keep it minimal, sit the chairs facing each other so it feels authentic. Whether enjoying alone or with friends, you’re good to go!

Virtual Dinner Parties

Dinner doesn't have to be a boring chore: now 's the time to really make a meal of it. Whether you’re hunkering alone, as a couple or with housemates, why not host a virtual dinner party? Invite them to join in with through Houseparty, Google Hangout or Zoom, and really get the dinner party vibe going. Pick a theme: is it a French night, Mexican, or Italian? Work a menu, playlist and decorations around it. Have everyone enjoy the same delish dish, or each cook something different and discuss. Sit down and eat together like you were in the same room. Bonus: no check to pay at the end!

Bring Date Night Home

Couples self-isolating together: you can still make date night happen! Got a restaurant wishlist you're working through? Keep the comforting ritual going. Pick a restaurant from your list – then pick an appetizer, main and dessert from their menu to make at home. To make your night feel special, take time to set the table with a tablecloth, cloth napkins and your best flatware. Want to up the romantic ambience? Add candles, dim the lights and put on some relaxing background music. Currently live apart from your love? Have them join you online for quality time.

Friday Night Post-Work Meetups

If Fridays nights out after work have always been your weekend start, don't abandon the squad now. Schedule a videocall with the girls/guys/besties and make sure it’s in everyone’s calendar. After you log off on Friday afternoon, take the time to get dressed up like you're actually going out (girls: you can just cheat with some great lipstick). What you’re really missing? It's not the place, it’s seeing and laughing with your friends. You can still make it happen to finish off the work week – or every night of the week!

Weekend Brunching

Breakfast during the week usually more dash-and-grab for the 9:00 video call? Give yourself more time over the weekend to relax and enjoy. Brunch with the squad's the kind of weekend moment you just can’t miss – especially for gossip. So schedule a Houseparty call with your besties and get everyone to dial in at the same time. Got a craving for waffles, or pancakes? Pull out the cookbook, make in your kitchen and top with whatever sweet or salty pick you have in the fridge. Make tons of coffee and settle in for the long haul – we all know these brunch session last hours... Have fun!
