You’ve found the perfect dress, purchased some glamorous bridal lingerie for your honeymoon, now let’s talk makeup. While it’s widely debated that booking a professional makeup artist is at the top of the wedding day prep list, doing your makeup yourself can be a positive alternative to consider. For one, it will be cost-efficient. Plus, you’ll be able to have full control over your glam (saving you from any last-minute disappointments!).

For all upcoming brides-to-be, bridesmaids, maids of honour and guests, we’ve curated an edit of affordable skincare, makeup products and tools to help make sure you look stunning and feel your best for the ceremony AND the after-party. The recommended wedding day beauty look? Soft glam makeup. The middle ground between the ‘no makeup’ makeup look and full glam, this monochromatic aesthetic is timeless (and bonus: it photographs well).

Step 1: Prep & Prime Your Skin

Your wedding day beauty prep should begin a few weeks in advance, so your complexion remains balanced, smooth and hydrated. Start by exfoliating your skin once or twice a week, followed by regularly replenishing and repairing your skin with hyaluronic, niacinamide and salicylic acid to boost its moisture levels. Take notes on our PS…Blemish Back Spray, it’s a must-have if you’re not feeling totally confident about your backless dress choice. You’re welcome.

The secret to ensuring your makeup lasts all day? Primer. Investing in our gripping or smoothing primer is key for creating a barrier between your foundation and your skin to ensure any sweat, dirt or oils don’t break through. It also prevents any creases or build-up during your special day (and in photos!).

Step 2: Classic Eye Makeup

As much as we love playful makeup, the classic smokey eye look suits everybody – and can be enough to make your eyes pop, without doing too much. Start by soaping and brushing up your brows to create a more sculptured look, before applying a light brown eyeshadow onto your eyelids.

Next, take a darker brown shade from one of our eyeshadow palettes and blend into the outer corners. For a pop of colour, smudge one of our cream pink or gold shimmers into the centre of your eyelid and inner corner for a mesmerising soft gaze. Complete with our new-in Aqua Lash Mascara – it’s waterproof, FYI!

Step 3: Foundation & Concealer

Creating the perfect base with a photo-ready finish is a must. Opting for a weightless yet high-medium coverage formula, such as our Flawless Glow Foundation, will help create a seamless, radiant complexion for your soft glam look. It’s a yes from us.

The holy grail for creating a flawless base. Concealer is a versatile product that can help eliminate dark circles and blur away blemishes. For your eyes, choose a lightweight concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone for a brighter, lifted complexion. For blemishes, opt for a concealer in a foundation-matching colour and gently pat around the skin using your fingertip or concealer brush to remove the redness.

Step 4: Bronzer, Blush & Highlighter

Summer weddings call for sunkissed, glowy makeup and we have a wide range of products to help you nail the beach-bride look. First things first, bronzer. Buff and blend a cream bronzer along your cheekbones, hairline and jawline using a fluffy kabuki brush. This hint of warmth will sculpt your features and create a diffused, radiant finish.

Flushed cheeks oozes romance and giving your bridal makeup a pinch of colour that complements your skin tone will instantly add a healthy-looking glow. Buff and blend a light pink, coral or nude powder or cream blush down your cheekbones. Finish by sweeping a sheer golden or silver highlighter on the bridge of your nose and voila! Hello, glass skin effect.

Step 5: Lips

The chances are that you’ll have to touch up your lipstick a few times on your wedding day (especially after the ceremony!), so opting for a compact lipstick or lip gloss is a must. Our go-to? The PS… Pink Vitamin Lip Oil, PS…Lip And Cheek Tint and PS…Sweet Talk Matte Lipstick . These glossy, nude shades offer a flattering ‘clean girl’ pop of colour that suits every skin tone (and won’t overpower your wedding dress or outfit). Perfect.
